Online Learning – Getting the best from your online course

BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND – AS OUR NOVEMBER AND JANUARY COURSES SOLD OUT WE ARE PLEASED TO ANNOUNCE A FURTHER COURSE IN SEPTEMBER!

Online and blended teaching and learning is fast becoming the norm in Higher Education. For students, this means adapting to a new way of working and accessing a Remote Campus instead of
being in contact with academic staff and fellow students in more relaxed learning spaces.

This course will help both the first time online learner, and those who have already done some online learning, to navigate the online learning spaces and gets to grips with synchronous (in real time) and asynchronous (not in real time, often collaborative) learning.

Starting with looking at the skill set needed to learn online, this course then goes on the look at how
to get the best out of the different kinds of teaching techniques offered on their modules to their
best advantage. From there, it will consider bespoke methods of using forum and other
asynchronous spaces for enhanced learning and course work production.

This course is a must for anyone starting an online course. I did not expect so much of my course to be online and did not know what I was doing. Doing this course taught me so much! It took away all the anxiety I was feeling and I actually enjoyed the online bits of my course in the end!
– John, Norfolk

What a brilliant course, thank you so much Gina. I was going to drop out of the course because I was really struggling with the forum work but someone told me about this course so I decided to give it a try. I am so pleased that I did. With all the things you taught me I really feel that I am actually going to get this degree!
– Ellie, Bradford

I am really good at FaceBook and Twitter and other social media, but I honestly didn’t think that I was going to have to do so much online stuff to get the degree and I hadn’t really thought about what it was going be like and what I would have to do to keep up. I knew that because of lockdown we would not see other people in real life, but I wasn’t prepared for how hard it was going to be.
Doing this course with Gina changed everything completely. From hating all the online stuff, now I understand what to do and why I am doing it , I actually quite like it. My marks have gone up as well. Sign up! You won’t regret it.
– Martin, York
